The land
A place that helps make restoration possible.
Emberwell is being developed in Middle Tennessee, within reach of Nashville’s creative, ministry, and cultural communities, and close enough to the countryside for quiet, privacy, and contact with the land.
The physical vision is intentionally human in scale: modest residential accommodations, shared tables, paths and outdoor spaces, places for solitude and conversation, and room for music, writing, making, reflection, and prayer. The goal is not an institutional campus. It is a place that feels cared for because the people arriving there are worth caring for.
“There are no unsacred places; there are only sacred places and desecrated places.”
- Residential. Existing homes and guest units for intensives and short stays.
- Studio. Reflective creative work when it serves — never as performance.
- Land. Trails, quiet points, and unstructured time outdoors.
- Shared tables. Meals, small cohorts, and walks. Privacy stays visible.
Alongside
Emberwell and The Walden Initiative
Emberwell’s restorative vision complements other programs of The Dignity Imperative, specifically The Walden Initiative. Walden explores stewardship of land, deliberate living, conservation, community, and human formation. Emberwell focuses on restoration of the person. Where appropriate, the two can meet.
Land can provide more than scenery. Walking, tending, gathering, eating, resting, and participating in the rhythms of a place can return attention to what hurried lives teach us to overlook. The relationship is complementary, not dependent. Specific properties and partnerships will be established as the work develops.
