Why this exists

Some people spend much of their lives carrying something for others.

They lead organizations. Shepherd congregations. Create and curate music and art. Care for families and communities. Teach, counsel, build, and respond when others need them. And they can become very good at continuing, sometimes to their own hurt.

A pastor can still preach. An artist can still perform. A leader can still make decisions. A caregiver can still show up. Outward capacity can remain long after something inward has become tired, diminished, or difficult to sustain.

The Emberwell is being created for the person behind all of that responsibility.

“Before I can tell my life what I want to do with it, I must listen to my life telling me who I am.”
Parker J. Palmer

Who this is for

  • Pastors and ministry leaders
  • Artists, musicians, and creative professionals
  • Worship leaders
  • Nonprofit and organizational leaders
  • Teachers, mentors, and caregivers
  • Couples carrying the effects of demanding vocations together

These are often people accustomed to being the strong one, the responsible one, the creative one, or the person others depend on. Emberwell is intended to offer a place where the role can become secondary and the person can become visible again.

Sometimes exhaustion is carrying something deeper that deserves skilled professional attention. Emberwell is not a crisis service, and it is not a substitute for treatment beyond its scope. Good care includes knowing what we can provide — and recognizing when someone needs something else.
